Gofyn i’r Gweinidog Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol

Derbyniwyd ateb ar 13 Mehefin 2014

Weinidog Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol (Mark Drakeford): NHS population based screening programmes are delivered by Public Health Wales’ screening division on behalf of the Welsh Government.

Public Health Wales’ screening engagement team works throughout the year to raise awareness of all screening programmes. Key messages for the screening programme were launched last week. Cervical Screening Wales will be supporting Cervical Screening Awareness Week through a range of social media sites. I will also be attending the Cervical Cancer Awareness Week event in Ty Hywel on Wednesday, 18 June.

The Screening for Life campaign will run throughout July. This builds on the success of last year’s campaign and will raise awareness of all population screening programmes in Wales.

Darren Millar (Gorllewin Clwyd): A wnaiff y Gweinidog ymateb i adroddiad Demos 'Behind the Screen' ac yn benodol, y ffigurau sy'n dangos:

1) y dirywiad pryderus mewn cyfraddau sgrinio ar gyfer pob grwp oedran, ond yn benodol ar gyfer merched 25-29 a 50-64 oed; a
2) y costau i’r Gwasanaeth Iechyd Gwladol ac i ferched unigol o ganlyniad i'r lefelau sy'n manteisio ar y gwasanaeth sgrinio? (WAQ67193)

Derbyniwyd ateb ar 13 Mehefin 2014

Mark Drakeford: There is no evidence to suggest a decline in cervical screening coverage in Wales. The table below shows the coverage for women who had been screened with an adequate result at least once in the last 5 years and illustrates that there is little variation in coverage rates across these age ranges.

Darren Millar (Gorllewin Clwyd): Pa gamau fydd y Gweinidog yn eu cymryd i fwrw ymlaen ag argymhellion adroddiad Demos ‘Behind the Screen’ i gynyddu’r niferoedd sy’n manteisio ar sgrinio serfigol? (WAQ67194)

Derbyniwyd ateb ar 11 Mehefin 2014

Mark Drakeford: Cervical screening coverage in Wales remains constant. For the last 3 years to 2012-13, coverage rates for women aged 25 to 64 (who had been screened with an adequate result at least once in the last 5 years) have been 79.6% (2010-11), 79.7% (2011-12) and 79.5% (2012-13) (Cervical Screening Wales KC Reports).

The Wales Screening Committee will discuss the report at a future meeting. Officials will advise me of any actions arising from those discussions.
