Born and raised
in Cardiff, Zaynub is a proud third-generation immigrant. Her grandfather
arrived from India in 1939, working on the Cardiff Docks before becoming one of
city’s first taxi drivers.
A highly
accomplished gymnast, Zaynub represented both Wales and Great Britain on the
international stage. Her achievements include Welsh Champion, British Champion,
Youth Olympic Games Finalist, European and World Medallist.
Zaynub worked as
a journalist in one of Wales’ national newsrooms before moving into policy and
public affairs. She later joined the Board of Directors of the Design
Commission for Wales, where she advocated for an inclusive built environment
that promotes active lifestyles.
An alumna of the
Future Generations Leadership Academy, she champions sustainable development,
considering the long-term impact of our actions and protecting the planet for
both current and future generations.
In the 2026
Senedd election, Zaynub was elected as the Member of the Senedd for Caerdydd
Ffynnon Taf, and was subsequently elected as Chair of the Equality, Human
Rights and Social Justice Committee.
Zaynub’s areas of
interest include social justice and equality, climate and sustainability, and
sport.
